A study done by the National Trust for Historic Preservation found that new construction causes more environmental damage than building reuse. With the large amount of single-family homes being torn down in Seattle, WA, architects, designers, and homeowners have an opportunity to reduce the cities carbon emissions with building reuse. This retrofit showcases that older homes can be just as energy efficient and appealing as new homes on the market, and serves as a model for residents of older homes in the area who are considering demolition.
